My mother is a PR(Permanent resident)so you can guess that my maternal grandparents are not singaporeans. They live in Ipoh, malaysia. Although they are my grandparents, I do not visit them often.
My latest memory is when I went there when I was four. It was then the first time I remembered their faces. On that day, my family and I woke up early(I did not know why then), took an extremely big luggage bag and went out. If i remembered, we reached little india at 7 but as the coach(The bus)was due to arrive at 8, we went to had breakfast first. The coach ride was 4 hours so before I knew it, we reached there. At that time,my family alighted the bus where the other passengers were still on it. Later I knew the reason. It looked like my it was nearer to my grandparents house!
After we alighted, I saw an old woman in her 50's came down to greet us. It was when my mother and father greeted her mother in Cantonese that I knew who she was. She drove us in a car, an old car, to her house. She lived in a terrence house which was in a row of the same type of house.
In the evening, It was then I meted my grandfather. He was in his 60's with white hair and had a set of denture. My grandfather worked as a driving instructor.
When I was there, I woke up earlier than I did back home and slept later too as my grandmother would bring me to eat breakfast at 6 O'clock. During the afternoon, that was the most boring part. The television channels were all spoken in malay and I did not even understand a single thing and as both my grandparents were working, I did not go out often so I loath that place.
It was when I was on my way home that I realized that I would miss everything there and when I started crying, my mother told me we would come again next year.
